Scott Mitchell- CEO

Scott Mitchell our CEO

Scott is considered an industry leader in first-class facility and professional tournament management, junior and adult coaching, and program design and implementation. He has been an Executive Director of Tennis with 28 years’ experience at private clubs, public facilities and resorts. 

Scott has been a coach with oversight of extremely successful programs, events, and tournaments: Dow Tennis Classic, Savannah Challenger, adult and junior programs and social events. He currently serves in leadership positions; USTA National Pro Circuit Committee Chair, USTA Midwest Schools Committee, V.P. USTA Northeast Michigan Tennis Association. 

Scott is a Master of Tennis Junior Development: PTR and a USTA Coach Youth Tennis Faculty Member. 

Scott is a sought-after speaker on tennis operations, management and coaching with the USPTA, USTA and PTR.  Scott has years of experience designing and implementing successful adult and junior programs. His success is based upon building a strong team culture, strategic planning and team development. In 2015 Healthiest Club Report stated that the adult and junior programs that Scott designed and implemented were “the most advanced of the clubs they surveyed”. In 2015, The Landings Club, under Scott’s leadership was awarded the Tennis Community of the Year by Bliss Awards. 

Scott oversaw an almost 2-million-dollar budget and day to day operations for The Landings Club as well as Greater Midland. In addition, Scott oversaw all operations as Tournament Director of the largest Pro Circuit event in the U.S., the $100k Dow Tennis Classic. During Scott's tenure the DTC received 4 straight years of Gold Star Standard by the USTA and has become the benchmark of all Pro Circuit events. Annually serving over 15k fans and 4k youth through outreach programs during our event. 2019 was a year where significant improvements were made which resulted in an almost $500k revenue increase from sponsorship and ticket sales over 2018. Scott was also responsible for all operations of the Savannah Challenger during his tenure in Savannah.

Scott is certified USPTA Elite and PTR National Tester and Clinician for all aspects of their pathways; adult and junior development. Scott has won many awards over his career and in 2016 he was awarded the USPTA Midwest General Manager of the Year. 2013- USTA Georgia Director of Tennis of the year, 2011 USPTA GA Professional of the Year and many other great USTA, PTR and USPTA awards.

Scott’s coaching background is extensive as he has won a National Championship as an assistant coach at Georgia Perimeter College. He also coached the GPC #1 player to a win over then NCAA #1, has been a USTA National Zonal Coach working with many of the nation’s top boys and girls. Scott is one of the industries leaders in developing both adults and juniors and their tennis. He has coached numerous juniors to play collegiate tennis and has coached over 50 adult league champions.

He is married to Ashley a former Florida State University player and ACC doubles champion and they have 3 children, Brady-10 and girl/boy twins, Brooklyn and Cason, 8 years

Mike Barrell- Evolution Kids Tennis

We are excited to partner and promote the Evolution Kids Tennis Program and now have the opportunity to implement the best kids tennis program with any of the clubs and facilities we consult with.  

Mike is the founder and CEO of Evolve9 and Evolution Kids Tennis and one of the world's leading experts in youth tennis development and program design.  Evolution is not just a better approach to programming for kids. It is about helping clubs and providers to build more sustainable businesses. This means sharing best practice and offering year-round support to the best kids tennis clubs in the world! There is a reason so many tennis federations around the world come to Mike for his knowledge of kids development and program design. Now all of our Clubs and facilities will have this as one of the many options that Premier Tennis Consulting can provide.  

Mike has taught tennis for over 30 years working with players of all levels and is a huge addition to our team. We will be looking to add this world renowned program to Clubs here in the U.S.

Mike has presented at numerous National and International conferences and authored magazine articles and manuals, almost all in the area of Junior Development.

He has worked on programs for USTA, Tennis Australia, LTA (GB), the Netherlands and Norway. Mike was the author of the ITF Tennis10s Manual and has a been a major contributor to Under 10 programs around the World.

An LTA Level 5 Licensed Coach, he was also the 2007 PTR Professional of the Year.

Andy Sutton- Coach Development

We are now able to service facilities and Clubs in Canada and the Northeast U.S. much easier now with Andy on our team. 

Andy is known to be an expert in coaching, coach development, facility management, program design (adult, junior recreational, and junior high performance), and seminar design.  He has been a Head Pro and Tennis Director. At the Mayfair Club in Toronto he oversaw a $2 million-dollar budget and a staff of 15 pros and 2 tennis coordinators serving 2 locations and 18 courts. Andy has been coaching for over 30 years, with experience in community based, commercial club, and private club environments. His breadth of experience has given him wide based knowledge of the industry.

Andy is currently the Tennis Director at Unionville Tennis Club, The Assistant Head Pro at the Donalda Club, the Head Ontario Course Facilitator, a consultant to ACE Tennis, the Ontario tennis Association, and Tennis Canada, and is a member of the board of the Philpott Foundation (charity).

Andy, similar to Scott, is a sought-after speaker with expertise in coaching education, quality tennis programming, program design, and staff management. He leads and manages the team that looks after coaching education in the province of Ontario and has delivered coaching courses and seminars throughout Canada. He was awarded the Course Facilitation award of Excellence in 2012 as recognition for all that he did for coach development in Canada. He has developed the U10 curriculum for one of the most successful high-performance junior academies in Canada. Andy is a level 3 high-performance coach and holds the highest level of club management certification, a Club Pro 3 with the Ontario Tennis Association.

Andy is married to Cathy and has two children: Megan (18) and Liam (15). 

Benjamin Doornbos- Financial Specialist

Ben is an integral part of the PTC team. With his years of financial experience he assists in many aspects of club and program data analytics, financial tracking, budgeting, forecasting and much more.   

Although relatively new to the tennis industry, Ben brings over 10 years of experience as an accountant and financial analyst; serving the organizations he has worked for monitor and maintain their financial operations.  As the former Director of Business Operations for the largest tennis facility in the Midwest, Ben spent the past 16 months understanding the financial resources that are required to not only maintain a tennis facility, but developing strategies to ensure long term financial growth and sustainability.  Many clubs understand their direct costs of their operations related to salaries that are paid to tennis professionals and other support staff, but have difficulty identifying the true cost of operating a single tennis court when facility overhead and administrative costs also need to be considered.  As a part of the Premier Tennis Consulting Team, Ben is helping develop financial models that your club can utilize to encompass all costs your club incurs into your tennis programs and other on-court activities.  The end product is a tool used to determine if your club is truly pricing programs and on-court activities correctly and a tool that can help develop short term pricing strategies to enhance your club's profitability.  

Ben can also be instrumental in developing strategic budgets for your tennis club or professional tournament based on trends and realistic expectations.  His budgeting processes and expertise will help provide guidance on filling known revenue gaps and identifying areas where expenses could be reduced to ensure your club or professional tournament produces a substantial return.  

Many tennis clubs are not only focusing on their day to day operations, but are spending 6-8 months out of the year planning for USTA / ITF pro circuit tournaments they facilitate.  Ben understands the process of what it takes to balance these responsibilities as he worked alongside Scott Mitchell as Financial Operations Director of the Dow Tennis Classic, the premier 100k event of the USTA/ ITF Women's Pro Circuit.  Ben can help your club develop strategies and processes to maximize ticket sales leading up to the tournament as he helped Scott lead a successful four month campaign prior to the 2019 Dow Tennis Classic.  With Ben's efforts leading the campaign for Box Seat and Ticket Sales, the tournament yielded a higher volume of available box seat and ticket packages being sold over prior years.  Ben would also be considered a strong asset to have onsite throughout the week of the tournament as Ben understands the need to develop a strong relationship with the USTA Tournament Director, USTA Officials and the players to understand their needs and ensure seamless financial operations.  This includes ensuring payments are issued to all tournament staff and players are paid promptly with their necessary tax forms completed and submitted accurately.

Ben is beginning to learn the game himself, as he enjoys spending any time he has available on the court working to improving his game.  In the past year Ben has experienced the game of tennis at a level he had never seen before, and discovered his passion for tennis.  Ben has committed himself to being an advocate for tennis and wants to see the game thrive for many years to come. 

Triet Bui- Master Court Supervisor

Triet joins our team as one of the nations leading experts in clay/ hard court maintenance and overall facility maintenance supervision. He has over 30 years of experience working at large and small facilities to keep their hard courts, clay courts and surrounding landscaping in premier shape. When facilities around the country use Har-Tru products and they have an issue, Triet is the one that Har-Tru will call for input and suggestions. Let Triet assess your facility whether it is clay or hard or if you have overall concerns about your court facility. There isn't a more knowledgeable court supervisor and we are thrilled to have him joining our team.
